  James D. Montgomery Men’s Health Program

LHF is working in partnership with Loretto Hospital in introducing its new initiative, a men’s health program that addressed issues affecting men’s health. This initiative, the “James D. Montgomery Men’s Health Program” will focus on providing an array of comprehensive gender-specific services consisting of the following components:

  • Healthcare Screenings and Assessment of Health Risks
  • Education and Awareness
  • Clinical and Hospital Treatment
  • Networking and Support Groups
  • Referrals

The program will provide gender and culturally specific preventative, treatment and support activities for chronic illness at Loretto Hospital and in the community to men, who are not receiving routine healthcare.

Goals and objectives:

  • To raise awareness among men about the risk factors associated with chronic illnesses such as diabetes, prostate cancer and hypertension
  • To raise awareness about the importance of healthy eating, regular physical activity, practicing safe sex, not using drugs, decreasing or quitting smoking and heavy drinking, screenings for early detection of chronic illnesses and immunizations
  • To raise awareness of the importance of making lifestyle changes in managing their chronic illnesses
  • To provided support to men in making lifestyle changes and managing their chronic illnesses
  • To provide women with male-specific information to help them encourage the men in their lives to get screenings
