History:
Since its opening in 1939, Loretto Hospital has evolved with the many changes and advances that have taken place in healthcare. The hospital has grown, its scope of services expanded, its technology advanced, and its reputation as a respected community hospital strengthened. A not-for-profit acute care hospital, Loretto has consistently re-evaluated itself to improve, and as a result, has become a responsive, quality-driven healthcare provider.

Community:
The community that Loretto Hospital serves has also grown. Loretto's healthcare professionals see patients from across the Chicagoland area. The largest percentage of the hospital's patients come from west side neighborhoods such as Austin and Garfield Park, but our care extends from Oak Park, Berwyn, Forest Park, and several other western suburbs.

Throughout the year, Loretto participates actively in community events and sponsors an assortment of free health screenings and workshops in order to educate and spread health awareness. The hospital's Community Advisory Board links community leaders with hospital officials to help develop effective community programs. The hospital is one of the largest employers in the community.

Staff:
Loretto Hospital values the diversity of the patients it serves. We also value the diverse talents and backgrounds of our over 500 employees. Many Loretto employees live right here in surrounding neighborhoods, while others travel here from various spots all around Chicago. Our employees are friendly, professional, and prepared to meet the vast range of individual needs in our patients.

Loretto's medical staff consists of over 170 physicians, including primary care doctors (family practice, internal medicine, general practice) and specialists (pediatrics, podiatry, neurology, orthopaedics, surgery, psychiatry, radiology, pathology, gynecology, opthalmology, and more). Our nursing staff consists of more than 300 professionals. These dedicated women and men give compassionate, personalized care to their patients. Technologists, technicians, therapists, social workers, counselors, and pharmacists are just some of the additional hospital personnel who make up an interdisciplinary team that works together to support and serve every patient. Our doctors, nurses, and all of our staff are dedicated to achieving positive health outcomes for each patient in the hospital.
